Following the successful Sabah edition of the Bursa Marketplace Fair 2024 held during the Kaamatan (Harvest Festival) season, we recently brought the event to Sarawak, hosted at the vibrant Vivacity Megamall in Kuching.
Under the slogan, “Invest Today, Powering the Future,” the event aimed to empower Malaysians with knowledge and tools to make informed financial decisions. This slogan was carefully crafted to resonate with Sarawak’s vision for economic growth and sustainability, encouraging a forward-looking approach to investment.
The event was officially launched by YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Sarawak’s Deputy Premier, Second Minister for Finance and New Economy, and Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development. He represented The Honorable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, the Premier of Sarawak. The launch was also witnessed by Tan Sri Abdul Wahid bin Omar Chairman of Bursa Malaysia and Stephanie Tan, Head of Investor Development Division, Bursa Malaysia, underscoring the event’s importance in fostering financial literacy and informed investing.
The Bursa Marketplace Fair is a cornerstone of Bursa Malaysia’s initiatives to foster a culture of financial education. Themed “Invest Today, Powering the Future,” the fair welcomed both novice and seasoned investors, offering curated talks that covered topics such as financial planning, wealth creation, and technical analysis for developing investment strategies. Visitors gained insights into a variety of investment opportunities, including stocks, exchange-traded funds, structured warrants, derivatives, and gold, made available through Bursa Malaysia.
The event also featured key stakeholders, such as representatives from the Securities Commission Malaysia, investment banks, brokers, and public-listed companies, who provided expert advice and services. For a more engaging experience, visitors participated in fun and educational activities and games designed to make financial learning enjoyable and memorable.
As the appointed event organizer, we took great pride in ensuring every aspect of the Sarawak edition reflected the spirit of the theme and resonated with the local audience. From crafting the slogan to suit the market to designing creative booth layouts and 3D plans, every detail was meticulously curated. We introduced innovative engagement activities such as the simulated investment game, the energy-themed bike juice station, and the Carbon Explorer station, which highlighted the significance of sustainable investment.
